Challenge
Tutis Point is the flagship data centre of Docklands Data Centres Limited (DDCL) and is located near the City of London. It comprises 20,000 sq ft of net technical space. The latest, high-spec telecommunications equipment and network solutions have been installed to ensure clients receive a secure, highly scalable, high-speed service with the best possible connections to global networks.
The data centre houses 200 racks in the main hall, each fitted with dual inline power meters or metered power bars, remote door locking and environment sensors. Temperature is maintained by nine 64 kW air-handling units and power is supplied via six main PDUs.
To monitor and manage all this, DDCL was forced to use multiple standalone proprietary systems, which proved inefficient and problematic. Monthly power billing for each client had to be collected manually—a very time-consuming process.

Solution
DDCL reviewed several DCIM (data centre infrastructure management) platforms and chose InSite from TSL. It matched their needs out of the box, deployed rapidly with minimal disruption, and offered a client-dedicated web interface for power and rack-status monitoring.
InSite Deployment Details
InSite is installed on a dedicated server and uses SNMP and Modbus-TCP to monitor power strips, temperature sensors and other devices. The portal has been customised to reflect DDCL’s branding so clients see a familiar interface.
Clients have secure remote access to detailed, real-time data for their rented racks—including power and environmental readings—via intuitive dashboards.
